He was predeceased by: his parents, Virl Black and Pruda Black (Pence); his son Tommy "Bo" Owsley; his brother Gary Black; his siblings-in-law, Danny Thompson, Bart, Gary, Alan, Mitch Sorrell, Shirley Orr Thompson and Carolyn Sorrell; his nephews, Randy Black and Richard Thompson; his niece Angela Black; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Nicholas Thurston, Levi Black, Kayla Sorrell and Spring Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Melanie Owsley; his daughter Melissa Decker (Carl) of Apollo, PA; his grandson Jordan Decker (Rogan Bell); his adoptive daughter Casie Bell; his siblings, Randy Black (Debbie), Kathy Miller of New Castle and Bonita Kuhn (Rusty) of Shelbyville; his aunts, Freda Harris of Mt. Sterling, KY and Mary Cole of Palmetto, FL; and his sisters-in-law, Pearl Thompson of Muncie and Phyllis Sorrell of Mooreland.
