He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Lester and Helen Mae Basey (Ball); his former wife Anita Rose Kinder; and his brothers, Lester and Richard Basey.
He is survived by: his wife Donna K. Basey of New Castle; his children, Robert Allen Basey (Vicki) of Lebanon, IN and Donna Lou Basey of Abelin, TX; his grandchildren, Brain Basey (Rachel) of Westfield, IN, Chris Basey (Emily) of Indianapolis, IN and Jessica Basey of Sheridan, IN; his great grandchildren, Noah and Arden of Westfield, IN; and his stepchildren, Gerald Boling, Jr., Don Boling, Sharon Murali and Cathy Jackson (Joe). He is also survived by several step grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 1st 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service (3406 S Memorial Dr, New Castle, IN 47362). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 1st 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the charity of the donor's choice in memory of Melvin.
