He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Swanson Sr. and Dorothy Swanson (Davis); and his siblings, Gerald Swanson, Katherine Shoemaker, Marjorie Kroening and Sharon McDonald.
He is survived by: his children, Michael Swanson of South Bend, IN, Roger Swanson (Becky) and Cynthia Short of New Carlisle, IN; and his brother William Swanson Jr. (Betty) of Rolling Prairie, IN. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
