He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Sr. and Mary; and his siblings, Juanita Bright, Vivian Rainbolt, Lawrence, Carl, Paul, Nelson and Albert, Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Betty Joyce Phelps; his children, Walter, Jr. (Pam) of New Albany, Steven (Deborah) of New Albany, Kenny (Nicki) of New Albany, John (Tricia) of Rougemont, NC, Joyce Lackovic (Eric) of Alpharetta, GA and Jennifer Hoffman (Damon) of Borden, IN; his granddaughter Kristin Thorsen (Ryan); his children, Nathaniel Croft, Jacob, Nicolas, Gabriel, Noah, Emma, Ella Prince, Alexander Lackovic, Zachary (Blake) and Jackson Hoffman; and his great grandchildren, Kiera and Kendryn.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Walter's memory to First Baptist Church, St. John Presbyterian Church, or the American Cancer Society. Keep Walter's legacy alive by donating to a charity in need.
