He was predeceased by: his parents, Margaret McEwen (Chellman) and John McEwen Sr.; and his brother John McEwen Jr.. He is survived by: his daughter Gabrielle "Brie" McEwen; his granddaughter Veyla McEwen; his siblings, Todd McEwen (Viki), Cathy Wilson and Beth Verhonik (Bill); his former wife Marla King; and his nieces and nephews, Michael, Peter, Heather, Matthew, Christopher, Jessica, Sydney and Andrew.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Humane Society of Floyd County Indiana, P.O. Box 1134 New Albany, IN 47151.
