He was predeceased by: his parents, William Brackens and Maybelle Brackens (Bratton); his wife Anna Mae Brackens (Beard); his children, Leon, Daniel, Donald Brackens, Pattie Brown, Dianna Simmons, Annette Brackens and Marilyn Brackens; and his siblings, Naomi Lipscomb, Beulah Elizabeth Wathen, William Brackens and Essie Shacklett.
He is survived by: his children, Odell, Jr. (Blanche), George, Kevin, Henry, Steven Brackens, Renita McCloud, DeVonne Whiting, Lisa Sheppard, Shawna Brackens and Trina Brackens. He is also survived by 60 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
