He was predeceased by: his parents, George Plaiss and Anna Mae Plaiss (Roth); his former wife Norma Jean Plaiss; and his siblings, Jennifer Cardin and Robert Plaiss.

He is survived by: his wife Deanna Day (Alexander); his sons, Mark Plaiss (Sara), Bruce Plaiss and Mike Plaiss (Melissa); and his sisters, Edith Gutkese and Betty Sheegog. He is also survived by six grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
