She was predeceased by: her parents, Virgil Charles Leist of New Albany, Indiana. and Norma Jean Leist (Turner) of New Albany, Indiana.. She is survived by: her husband James David Payne M. D; her sisters, Jenny Leist of Sellersburg and Christy Leist of Clarksville, Indiana; her children, Sara Eline (Smiley) of Louisville, John David Charles Payne (Ashley) of Central and James Michael Payne (Crystal) of Underwood, Indiana; her grandchildren, Madelynn Jaye Donaldson (Isaac) of New Albany, Shalyn Gayle Eline of Louisville, Abbigayle Renee Payne and James Michael Payne, Jr. of Underwood; her great grandchild Lennon Jaye Donaldson; and also Samantha Lynn Rose of Underwood.

Visitation was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Kraft Funeral Service (2776 Charlestown Rd, New Albany, IN 47150). A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location.

In addition to flowers, donations are suggested to the American Heart Association or to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer.
