He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Messmer and Lelia Irene Messmer (Rainbolt); and his siblings, Charles Irvin Messmer, John Messmer, Gerald Messmer, Roger Messmer, Katherine Pursehouse and Helen Gerdon.
He is survived by: his wife Gloria Messmer (Dukes); his son Mark Messmer (Shanda); his grandchildren, Samuel Edward Messmer (Hannah), Moriah Messmer (Blayne) and Rebekah Messmer (Guyler); his great grandchildren, Willow Messmer, Robin Messmer and Arthur Wayne Messmer; and his sister Phyllis Buttram (George).
Expressions of sympathy can be made in the form of donations in Curtis' name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
