He was predeceased by: his parents, Rex and Millie Ann Cody Thompson, Sr.; his wife Cynthia; and his siblings, Richard G. Thompson (Shirley) and Dorothy M. Lewis.
He is survived by: his former wife Janice Emberton; his son Robert L. Thompson of Nashville; his stepchildren, Craig Rust (Pam) of Peoria and Amy E. Reedy of Fishers; his grandchildren, Maddie, Adam, Nicholas, Laine, Lauren and Jack; and his brother Raymond Thompson (Diane) of Nashville.
