He was predeceased by: his parents, Helen Smosna (Sokol) and Stanley Smosna; and his brothers, John Smosna and William Smosna. He is survived by: his wife Diane (Vance); his son Brian (Cindy); his grandson Matthew of Chicago; his sons, Jeffrey Smosna of Naperville and Mark Smosna (Lori); his grandchildren, Max, Stella, Charli of West Lafayette and Kevin Smosna (Jessica); his great grandchildren, Anna, Teagan and Reed of Dyer; and his granddaughter Meghan Smosna of Chicago, Illinois.. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins.
In lieu of flowers and in keeping with Edward's requests, he wished to recognize two outstanding institutions that figured in his life: Purdue University's School of Pharmacy – Pharmacy Scholarships (http://www.pharmacy.purdue.edu), for his excellent education, as well as Rush University – Lung Cancer Research Fund (https://rushgiving.com) for its outstanding care and modern medicine.
