He was predeceased by: his wife Marian "Mimi" Murphy; his son Peter Murphy; and his grandson Scott Sawa. He is survived by: his children, Debra Sawa (Edward) and Kevin Murphy (Kathy Dalton); and his grandchildren, Jeff Sawa (Jenny), Brianne Markos (James) and Shellie Sawa.
