With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Ernest J. Gonzalez (Munster, Indiana), born in Chicago, Illinois, who passed away on August 29, 2023 at the age of 73. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his mother Frances Gonzalez. He is survived by: his father Ernest B. Gonzalez; his wife Melanie; his children, Luciana, Liliana, Lorena and Ernest Gonzalez Jr.; his siblings, Rey, George, Elizabeth Ortiz and Richard; and his grandchildren, Alexandria Gabriel, Brian Gabriel (Vinny), Julie Guerrero, Anthony, Maya, Sebastian, Cassius and Isaac.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research at stopsarcoidosis.org would be appreciated.

“Ernie was a buddy of mine on Brandon Avenue. Korch, Kubiak, Ernie and I had a lot of " adventures." I was a year ahead of him at Carmel. After I went away to college, I guess I didn't see much of him, but he was an important part of my youth. He will be sorely missed. My condolences to the family.
