He was predeceased by: his father Richard Leon Overmyer; and his grandparents, Harry, Dorothea Scherzinger, Betty and Fred Overmyer.

He is survived by: his significant other Jane Brooks; his daughters, Mackenzie Overmyer of Cincinnati and Jillian Overmyer; his mother Harriet Josephine "Jo" Overmyer (Scherzinger); and his aunts and uncles, Steve, Cathy Overmyer, Doug, Bobbi Overmyer, Ruth and Larry Littler.

“Mike (Ovey), will be missed. He taught me a lot during my time as his team mate at Ball State. He was not a star on the field, but he worked his tail off and demonstrated commitment and grit. He always had us laughing with his wit. It's been nearly 35 years since we played on the field, but to this day I consider him a team mate. I will be praying for the family that they find joy in the stories of the people he impacted during his time on earth with us. #31”
