He was predeceased by: his mother Eva Hinds Wade; his stepfather Harold Wade; his brothers, Jim Hinds and Gene Hinds; his granddaughter Kirstin Bergdoll; his niece Kelli Hinds Dehart; and his nephew Kevin Hinds.

He is survived by: his wife Marcia McCarthy Hinds; his children, Tom Hinds, Tim Hinds and Kathy Hinds Bergdoll (Barry); his grandchildren, Katelyn Bergdoll Smith (Brandon), Chelsea Bergdoll and Chaz Hinds; his great grandchildren, Jack and Charlie Smith; his brother Larry Hinds (Judy); and his pet Gracie. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, his family suggests donations to the Muncie ARF or Muncie Animal Care, in his memory.
