He was predeceased by: his parents, William Henry McCarter I and Mary Agnes McCarter (Phillips) of Kokomo; his grandson James Robert Olson; his siblings, Richard, William, Henry McCarter II, Joann and Margaret; his parents-in-law, Elva Mae Johnston and Otis Lee Johnston; and his brothers-in-law, Carl Johnston, Robert Plummer and Joe Hurt.
He is survived by: his wife Deloris; his children, Pam Light (Joe) of Forest, Nancy Olson (Joe) of Scircleville, Susan McCarter of Bloomington, James E. McCarter Jr. (Teresa) of Burlington and Fred McCarter of Cincinnati, OH; his grandchildren, Stephanie Barker (Jared), Jaime McCarter (Brian), Zack Light (Amanda), Nick Light (Kristina), Jessica Zickmund (Conn), Jake Light (Marley), Joey Olson (Erin), Monica Olson, Lindsey Bailey (Brian), Katie McCarter and Colin McCarter; his sister Wilma Hurt of Kokomo; and his siblings-in-law, Mildred Johnston, Marion McCarter and James Johnston (Donna). He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jim's name may be made to the Forest Township Volunteer Fire Department or to Brookside Free Methodist Church (190 E 400 S, Kokomo, IN 46902) in care of the Billy McCarter Building Fund.
