He was predeceased by: his parents, Phillip Grundy and Minnie Maebell Hawkins (Cagel); his son Joseph "Joe Boy" Hawkins; his wife Norma Hawkins (Bailey); his grandson Nathan Stafford; the mother of his children Glenda Potter; and his siblings, Anna Hawkins, Helen Hawkins, Ruth Cutbirth, Laverne Philpot, Reyth Stallings, Mary Ellen Richardson, Albert, Richard, Leroy, Artie Hawkins, Jim Richardson and Charlie Richardson.
He is survived by: his children, Michael Hawkins (Donna), Becky Stafford (Mike), Donna Healy (Dennis), Dr. Betty Scheller (Dan), Ashlynn Sellers and Jamie Minor; and his sister Betty Hawkins. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Schneider Funeral Home (512 Main St, Mt Vernon, IN 47620). A funeral service was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 at 5:00 PM at the Moose Lodge #497 (711 W 2nd St, Mt Vernon, IN 47620). A burial will be held on Friday, March 21st 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Cook Cemetery.
