She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarence Smith and Marie Smith Sr. (Ellerman); and her siblings, Beulah Ackerman, Arthur Smith, Clarence "Skelly" Smith Jr., Mary Sluss, D'Lema Baughman and Luther "Bud" Smith.
She is survived by: her husband Dwight A. Pate; her children, Angela Shondell (David) of West Lafayette and Michael Pate (Kathy) of Rochester, MN; her sister Donna Rhoades of Martinsville; her sister-in-law Barbara Smith of Brown County; and her grandchildren, Adam Pate (Joy) of Virginia Beach, VA, Amanda Tucker (Andrew) of Rochester, MN, Karli Mullally (Rob) of Noblesville, Lindsay Morgan (Tamir) of West Lafayette, Ashlee Huff (Gary) of Carmel and Kyle Shondell (LeeAnn) of Fort Wayne. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
