She was predeceased by: her parents, Claude Wilcher and Zora Wilcher (Turpin); her children, Shelia Toon, Peggy Jean Tibbetts and James Payton Jr.; and her siblings, Nona Sawyer, Lula Vanoy, Mayme Randolph, Ollie King, Earl, Carl, George, Raymond and Kenny Wilcher.

She is survived by: her husband James B. Payton; her daughters, Norma L. Hamilton (David) of Hartford City and Donna Price (James) of Morgantown; and her grandchildren, Tracy Price of James Price, III, Brian Price, Kimberly Flaggs, Dawn Goodspeed, Robin Mills and Francis Farthing. She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
