She was predeceased by: her parents, John O. Carter and Jeanette Carter (Ferree); her former husband Marvin Lloyd Armstrong; her husband Jesse H. Phillips; her daughter Sheri Armstrong-Conder; and her sisters, Velda Mae Scott and Violet M. Shanklin.
She is survived by: her daughter Sallie Armstrong of Indianapolis. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
