He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel McDonald and Grace McDonald (Pritchett); and his siblings, Janet Sue McDonald and James Keith McDonald. He is survived by: his wife Sandra McDonald (Marlett) of Mooresville; his children, Joshua McDonald (Brittany) of Monrovia and Amber Daniel (Fred) of Mooresville; his grandchildren, Bianca, Cheyenne, Grayce Daniel, Claire, Samuel and Reed McDonald; and his sisters, Judie Meadows of Bedford and Donna Woods of Bedford.

Memorial contributions may be made in Kent's memory to the American Cancer Society.
