He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Murray and Agnes Laverne Hewitt (Boyles); and his son Jeffery Hewitt. He is survived by: his wife Sandy Shirley; his children, Cheryl Fisher (Brett) and Michael Hewitt (Maria); his grandchildren, Makayla Asher (Chris), Cody Hewitt, James Craig (Arrianna), Kyle Hewitt and Sage Schofield; and his great grandchildren, Kaylin Schultheis, Madilynn, Jaila Melton, Corbin, Colton, Kinley, Madison and Lillianna Asher.
