He was predeceased by: his parents, Leslie Raymond and Florence Gladys Ellis (Koelmel); his wife Phyllis Marie Ann Ellis (Abrams); and his son Garland "Pete" Abrams. He is survived by: his sons, Leslie Lonnie Ellis and James Robert Ellis, II; his grandchildren, Benjamin Loren Ellis, Stephen-Paul James Ellis and William Bradley Ellis; and his great grandchildren, Rowan Scott Ellis and Trey William Ellis.
