He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerald Wayne and Reatha Mae Simerl (Howard) of Covington, Indiana.. He is survived by: his wife Frances "Dee" Simerl (Miller) of Mooresville; his children, Daniel Garrett Simerl (Tammy) of West Bloomfield, Michigan and Deanna Lynne Rynard (David) of Zionsville; his grandchildren, Joshua (Jessica), Amelia, Elizabeth, Katie and Becca; and his great grandchild Beatrix. He is also survived by his loving family and many friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel (585 E Main St, Monrovia, IN 46157). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location. The military honors was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 3:30 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made in Don's memory to the American Huey 369 Inc., 209 S. Broadway St., Peru, IN 46970.
