He was predeceased by: his father Roy Cottrell; his close friend Larry "Junior" G. Coles; and his siblings, Judy Ann and Danny Cottrell. He is survived by: his mother Violet Hughes (Humphrey); his children, Erin McCollum (Michael), Jeremy Cottrell, Lacy Cottrell (Garland), Lindsey Thompson (Nick), Jona Sheline and Sam Norfleet; his siblings, Donna Mann, Diane Smith and Joe Cottrell; and his grandchildren, Nicholas, Kylie, Jonathan Thompson, Ashlynn McCollum, Brooklyn, Colton Sheline, Jay, Charles, Violet, Olivia Cottrell and Little Roy Cottrell.
