He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Jefferson and Ada Alice Simpson (McDonald); his son Tommy Simpson; his siblings, Martha Mike, Dorothy Simpson, Betty Smith, Josephine Stull and Jim Simpson; and his son-in-law Dewey Durham.

He is survived by: his wife Arlene Simpson of Monrovia; his children, Karen Durham of Indianapolis and Tim Simpson (Susie) of Southport; and his grandchildren, Troy, Christy, Kari, Teresa, Sean, Marjorie, Samantha and Jessica. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren.
