He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Stevens and Kathleen Stevens (Mills). He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Stevens (Gould); his children, Pieterjon Hoffmann and Anna Ward (Brad); and his grandsons, Jackson Ward, Carter Ward, Alexander Ward, Zachery and Mason Ward.

“My deepest condolences Kathleen and family. John was a great man who will be missed dearly. I met him many times involving our shared hobby. I am so glad you were both able to attend the last workshop. We didn't know it at the time but it was very nice to be able to say goodbye. He leaves a void in our community that cannot be filled but we will continue to honor him by continuing his legacy. Thoughts and prayers to you and your family.”

“Our deepest sympathy for Kathleen & family on John's passing. They are both good friends. I became friends with John through our shared hobby, for the last 11 years. He instructed at our annual workshop. My wife got to visit a few times. We always had a good time! We were fortunate to have John, & Kathleen at our workshop 2 months ago, I'm so glad I got to see him again. May God send to his family the peace that passes all understanding, through this difficult time. Scott Thornton”
