It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Helen Lucille Heffernan of Mitchell, Indiana, who passed away on December 20, 2024, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, J. Walter Lauer and Lucille Lauer (Robison); her siblings, Mary Ann Meacham, Joseph Lauer, Paul Lauer and John Lauer; and her in-laws, Ron Bowman, Bob Bowman and Kate Pachmayr.

She is survived by: her husband Jim Heffernan of Mitchell; her children, Anne Marie Simpson (Brian) of Exeter and Daniel Robert Heffernan (Lena Campbell) of Exeter; her grandchildren, Garrett Simpson, Sam Simpson and Campbell Heffernan; her siblings, Tom Lauer (Sherry), Elizabeth Bowman of New Palestine and Therese Bowman of Indianapolis; and her in-laws, Lin Lauer of Orlando and Marcia Lauer of New Palestine, Indiana.. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 26th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Chastain Funeral Home (705 W Warren St, Mitchell, IN 47446). A rosary will be held on Thursday, December 26th 2024 at 6:30 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, December 27th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mary's Catholic Church (777 S 11th St, Mitchell, IN 47446).
