He was predeceased by: his parents, Alphonse Heyde and Susanna Heyde (VanDeWalle); his children, Lisa Heyde Moore and Richard Jr.; and his sister Helen Hahaj.
He is survived by: his wife Iris Cain; his children, Linda Susanne Barnaby (Ernie) of South Bend, Leslie Wilk of South Bend and Gregory Allen Heyde (Jill) of Mishawaka; his grandchildren, Ryan Heyde, Adam Heyde (Nicole Garbuzoiv), Phillip Heyde (Amanda Elliott), Christine Moore (Drew), Sean, Daniel, Bryan Kreinke, Tyler Moore, Michael and Susan Derda; and his stepsons, Vernon and Vincent Cain (Herb Avery).
