He was predeceased by: his parents, James Battles and Lucinda "Cindy" Battles; his sister Sally; his brother-in-law Donald Conrad; his sister Mary; and his niece Kathy Minix.
He is survived by: his wife Kathryn "Elaine" Battles; his daughter Amy Hayes (Colt); and his pet Sophie. He is also survived by many other family members and friends.
His contributions to the agricultural community and his reputation as an expert in the field made a lasting impact on those he worked with.
