He was predeceased by: his father Ernest Hale Sr.; and his brother Millard "Joe" Hale. He is survived by: his mother Charlotte Hale (Dawson); his siblings, Laura Helge-Smith (Joel), Amber DeLee (Scott), William "Sam" Hale, Ernest Hale Jr. and Brandon Hale (Kim); his children, Andrew Nance and Brittany Nance; his nieces and nephews, Keith, Koriann Kaylee (Dale), Autumn, Maddie, Emma, Dylan, Sarah, Danica and Dallas; and his great-nephews, Keegan, Karlton, Logan and Sebastian.
