He was predeceased by: his parents, Roscoe Sumpter and Alice Sumpter (Frederick); his brother Jack Sumpter; and his grandson Melvin Sumpter. He is survived by: his wife Irene Sumpter of Milford; and his sons, Mike Sumpter (Loretta) of Milford, Max Sumpter (Sherie) of North Webster and Mark Sumpter (Tracy) of Syracuse. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
