He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin Norman and Dora Norman (Hampton); and his grandson Gregory Norman. He is survived by: his children, Doug Norman (Terri) of Milan, Tony Vermillion (Lisa) of Deputy, Debra Bischoff (Mike) of Guilford, Teresa Bailey of Versailles and Sherri Schmidt of Texas; and his grandchildren, Cheryl Boggs (Leon), Jason Bailey (Katie), Shawn Haase, Crystal Ryan (Matthew), Trena Walker, Doug Norman (Charlotte), Curtis Schmidt (Missy), Matthew Bailey, Daryl Schmidt, Joshua Kessler (Ashley), Danessa Furnish (Nathan), Brandon Vermillion, Kristen Vermillion and Tiffany Wilking (Darius). He is also survived by 27 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given in honor of Vernon to the House of Cherith, (a halfway house for women, being built in Milan).
