He was predeceased by: his parents, Irvin Pieper and Edna Pieper; and his son Blaine Pieper. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Pieper of Milan; his children, Corey Pieper (Angela) of Fort Worth, Texas, Megan Schaefer (Scott) of Batesville and Amanda Andrew (Ricky Jr.) of Milan; his sister Bonnie Whaley (James) of West Carrollton, Ohio; and his grandchildren, Sydnee Schaefer, Maxwell Schaefer, Cadence Pieper, Chloe Andrew and Sophie Andrew.

Memorials may be given in honor of John to the Milan Fire Department.
