With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Geraldine Walker of Milan, Indiana, born in Wyandotte, Oklahoma, who passed away on August 21, 2024 at the age of 98. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Geraldine Walker to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarence Winnie and Gladys Winnie (Zane); her husband Henry Walker; her son-in-law Tom Buck; and her siblings, Joe, Roland Winnie, Sue Winnie, Betty Cassidy and Gladys Preston.

She is survived by: her children, Leslie Walker (Julie) of Melbourne, Reid Walker (Bonnie) of Milan, Deborah Myers (Donald) of Milan and April Buck of Greensburg; her sister Ramona Daniel of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; her grandchildren, Henry Myers (Sue), Aaron Myers (Kristen) of Ryan Myers, R. J., Jessica Hoffman (Brandon), Brenna Canterbury (Josh), Heather McGowan (Brian), Chris Walker (Chloe Trompetter), Alex Walker, Lauri Walker, Travis Buck (Alisha) and Amber Dyer (Bill); her great grandchildren, Tyler Myers (Monica), Walker, Harper, Lincoln Hoffman, Allie McGowan, Hayden, Kinley Canterbury, Bailey, Reid, Rhett Walker, Dominic, Cadence Buck, Jayden Wayne Smith, Kaitlyn Hastings (Wade), Mason Dyer and Makhi Dyer; and her great great grandchildren, Wilder and Bodie Hastings.

Memorials may be given in memory of Jerry to the Milan United Methodist Church, Milan Volunteer Fire Department, or Milan Dollars for Scholars.

“We have lost an important person, who shines in my memory for many reasons. It may be that no one else alive will remember the fuss when she came to teach in Milan. I remember my parents being upset and talking at the dinner table about people opposing her being given a teaching job because she was an "Indian". Luckily for all of thus, those voices did not prevail. Jerry's contributions to Milan need to be memorialized. I will contribute to a scholarship in her name. David Mortara”
