He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Carnes and Sally Carnes (Thurston); his wife Janis Liebhardt-Atkinson Carnes; his daughter Andrea Susan Carnes; and his siblings, Kenneth Carnes, William Curtis Carnes, Homer Carnes, Aldine Lois Davis, Norma Jean Sanders and Evelyn Carnes.
He is survived by: his children, Shawn Carnes-Keller (Kreston) and Brian Carnes; his grandchildren, Blake Carnes, Jason Carnes (Tasha), Devin Carnes and Nicole Toombes; his great grandchildren, Noah Hinkley, Lexie Carnes, Jason Carnes Jr. and Lena Carnes; his daughter-in-law Susan Carnes; his brother Jim; his sister-in-law Karen Liebhardt; his friend Buster Johnson; and his caregivers, Fran and Ed Tedrow. He is also survived by two step sons and many nieces and nephews.
