He was predeceased by: his parents, Mads Nielsen and Lucile Nielsen (Beique); his siblings, Roger Nielsen and Mary Ann VanderReyden; his grandson Ryan Anderson; and the mother of his children Pamela Nielsen (Davis).
He is survived by: his wife Penelope "Penny" Cast (Losey); his daughters, Doretta Repaich of Granger, Angela Salvagni of South Bend and Michelle Freeland of Sahuarita, AZ; his stepchildren, Rhonda Wheatstone, Gregory Frohriep of Union City, MI and Todd Frohriep (Cindy) of Farmington Hills, MI; and his brother Mike Nielsen of Las Vegas, NV.. He is also survived by four grandchildren; six great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Goshen Hospice or the First United Methodist Church, Middlebury.
