It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Roy Dillard (Michigan City, Indiana), who passed away on January 26, 2025, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Roy Dillard and Grace Isabella Dillard (Schlundt); his brothers, James Dillard and Donald Dillard; and his siblings-in-law, Mark Sobecki and Georgianne Schroeder.
He is survived by: his wife Joann Helen Sobecki; his children, Rhonda Dillard, Colleen Stimley (Don), Arleen O'Shea, David Dillard, Kathleen Gallion (Larry), Joleen Jackson (Jerry), Pauleen Hocker (Steve), Roseleen Strother (Bryan) and Eileen Smiertelny (John); and his siblings-in-law, Louis, Patrick Sobecki and Debi Sobecki. He is also survived by many other extended family members and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Root Funeral Home (312 E 7th St, Michigan City, IN 46360). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Memorial Contributions can be made to St Mary Immaculate Conception Church in Michigan City towards the purchase of a new St. Joseph Statue.
