He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Elfriede Martha and Newby; his wife Roxane Knappe; his children, Eli Mills (Tammy) of North Carolina, Joshua Knappe (Lisa) of Indianapolis and Starlyn Knappe of Michigan City; his grandchildren, Terrance Loftis, Zachary Knappe and Dietmar Jensen; and his siblings, Detlev Knappe (Dave), Barbara C. Miller (Steven) and Michael J. Newby. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the family.
