He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Stidam Sands; his son William "Billy" Sands of Salem; his stepchildren, Trapper Dean (Danielle) of Medora and Lora Darlage (Matt) of Seymour; his siblings, James Sands of Salem, Arty Sands of New Albany and Becky Osborne of New Albany; and his grandchildren, Ashley Darlage, Kinzee Dean, Trapper Dean, Brock Dean, Kobe Stuckwisch, Eliza Sands and Katlin Sands.
