He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley Gilbert and Frankie Cockerham Gilbert; his sisters, Patty Hall and Margie Cummings; and his half-brother Carl Gilbert.
He is survived by: his wife Gladys Maynard; his children, Jack Gilbert (Linda) of Medora, Penny Lane of Las Vegas, Sherry Teulker (Lester) of Brownstown and Sheila Striegel of Medora; and his grandchildren, Douglas Lane, Kelly Lane, Natalie VanZuiden (Eric), Amber Teulker, Jamie Schroeder (Jason), Kristi Burbrink (Matt), Heather Stevens (Blaine), Whitney Goforth (Levi), Isaiah Gilbert and Joseph Striegel. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Medora, and the American Heart Association.
