Sharon Holland Obituary
Sharon Lynn Holland age 68 years, a resident of Maxwell, Indiana passed away Thursday October 20, 2011. She was born January 7, 1943 in West Frankfort, Illinois to the late Kenneth Dawson and Eula (Gambill) Carrier. She was a graduate of Greenfield High School and attended Ivy Tech and I.U.P.U.I. She worked at Indiana School for the Deaf and then was a Vocational Education Coordinator for Hancock – South Madison Joint services from 1979-2007.
She was a member of Greenfield Christian Church. Sharon was the 1999 Coach of the Year for the Special Olympics Area 8, first recipient of the Indiana Council for Exceptional Children Peggy Heinzman Award and the winner of the Vocational Service Award for the Rotary Club of Greenfield in 1999. She was coordinator for basketball, swimming, gymnastics, track and field, bowling, baseball and golf for Hancock County Area 8, Special Olympics, organized various teams for Relay for Life and March of Dimes for the Special Olympics, an advocate for special needs children and their families, a member of the Special Education Advisory Board, assisted in coordination of Dinosaur Discovery for Preschool children and past president, vice president and secretary for ARC.
She is survived by husband, Bob Holland of Maxwell; daughters, Tami Lively of Terre Haute, Terri (Chris Steele) Norton of Cumberland, Tonya Lemons of Maxwell, and Tiffany (Patrick) Hughey of Maxwell; sisters Debra (Bo) Burns of Brownsburg and Sally (Garry) Wright of Greenfield; brother, Chuck Carrier of Greenfield; step-father, James T. Carrier of West Frankfort, IL; ten grandchildren, Justin, Chase, Addison, Cameron, Toby, Riley, Ally, Maddy, Tyler, and Cooper and three nephews, Trey, Micah, and J.C. Friends may call Tuesday October 25, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel.
Celebration of Life Service will be at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Greenfield.
