He is survived by: his wife Patricia Mathews (Roach) of Martinsville; and his children, Willis R. Mathews of Westfield, IN, Wanda Sweat (Steve) of South Carolina and Michele Kissel (Scott) of Logansport, IN. He is also survived by one step-son; three step-daughters; seven grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
