He is survived by: his children, Rebecca Whedon (George) of Martinsville, Pam Breedlove (Terry) of Martinsville, Janet Vermillion of Martinsville, Julie Chittum (Chris) of Franklin, Indiana, William Mullis (Michelle), Michael Mullis of Franklin and Brandon Mullis (Misty) of Martinsville; and his siblings, Donald Carpenter (Bertie) of Paragon, Jim Carpenter (Virginia) of Martinsville, Bill Carpenter of Martinsville, Coy "Butch" Carpenter (Patricia) of Martinsville, Raymond Carpenter (Bobbi) of Martinsville, Lola Christman (Marvin) of Martinsville, Margaret Snowden of Martinsville and Sharon Anderson (Mark) of Martinsville. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren.
