He was predeceased by: his father James Russell Whitaker. He is survived by: his mother Barbara L. Whitaker (Hendrick); his wife Sue Ellen Whitaker (Kenworthy); his daughters, Natalie Wesley and Wendy Pryor (Cody); his stepchildren, Faith Galloway, Jennifer Markitan (Mike) and Ricky Kenworthy; his siblings, Cliff Whitaker and Jill Whitaker; and his mother-in-law Velma Kenworthy of Martinsville. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and cousins.
