He was predeceased by: his parents, Willard Hayden and Grace Hayden (Frederick); his siblings-in-law, Dee Hayden and Ed Akard; his nephews, Willard Akard and John Hayden; his niece Allison Hayden; and his aunt Debbie Ferguson (Hayden).
He is survived by: his wife Becky Hayden of Martinsville; his sons, James Hayden II (Lindsay) of Camby, Justin Hayden of Martinsville, Michael Pottorff of Paragon and Christopher Hester of Bargersville; his siblings, Willard Hayden (Carla) of Patricksburg, Charles Hayden of Monrovia, Joe Hayden (Nann) of Monrovia, Roger Hayden (Debbie) of Monrovia, David Hayden (Jaquie) of Martinsville, Kenny Hayden (Cecilia) of Mooresville, John Hayden of Patricksburg, Bruce Hayden (Debbie) of Martinsville, Delores Akard of Martinsville and Robin Curry (Scott) of Martinsville; and his grandchildren, Jaxan, Jordyn and Jayce Hayden. He is also survived by many cousins and other family members.
