He was predeceased by: his wife JoAnn Phillips (Hobbs); and his siblings, Louie, Aaron, Edward, William, Walter Phillips, Myrtle Tucker, Mattie Gatin, Grace Appleton and Mabeline Scott.

He is survived by: his sons, Floyd Phillips Jr. (Diane) of Martinsville and Edwin Phillips of Martinsville; his siblings, Thomas Phillips of Tennessee, Lloyd Phillips of Martinsville and Louise Pierce of Martinsville; and his grandsons, Ethan and Eli Phillips.
