He was predeceased by: his parents, Oatley Lane and Bessie Lane (Woodrum); his wife Mildred Ann (Brummett); his son-in-law Bill Hamilton; his grandsons, Aaron Lane and Justin Lane; and his siblings, Herschel Lane, Dewey Lane, Leo Lane, Melvin Lane, Calvin Lane, Beatrice Wethington and Elizabeth Scott.
He is survived by: his children, Steve Lane (Nicole) of Martinsville, Franklin E. "Frank" Lane (Krista) of Martinsville, Anna Jean Hamilton of Martinsville, Sara Yvonne Gilbert (Ron) of Camby and Marsha Greeson (Tyler) of Martinsville; and his sister Eva Randolph. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren.
