He was predeceased by: his father Mark D. Kent; and his grandparents, Mack Mathers, Maurice and Elnora Jean Kent. He is survived by: his mother Patricia Mathers of Martinsville; his daughters, Gracelyn Kent and Annabelle June of Mooresville; his grandmother Beverly Mathers of Martinsville; and his godmother Dawn Ferris Ferguson of California. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
