He is survived by: his wife Karen Mae of Martinsville; and his children, Geneil Ison, Arvine "Dobbin" Carter II, Delaina Curl, Andy Carter of Martinsville, Amanda Carter of Lebanon, Walker Carter, Joseph Carter, Emily Herring and Rebekah Waterman. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
